Will Cooper
From an early age I have had a passion for sport and throughout my studies I was always extremely interested in anatomy and Physiology. Having played football, rugby, and cricket from an early age, I had experienced injury, made every mistake there is to make regarding rehabilitation and endured countless spells on the side-line. So, what better career than to learn about injuries and help other people avoid making those mistakes!!! Once I made this realisation, my journey began in 2008, when I enrolled on a Physiotherapy degree course at Coventry University.
Following my graduation in 2011, I began a brief spell with a large private Physiotherapy company. With expert training and a large volume of clients, my confidence grew rapidly. I set up my own private Physiotherapy practice in Brackley in 2013. I have achieved some amazing results with my clients to date, whether this be returning them to competitive sport, improving flexibility & posture or simply providing them some relief and management strategies for their chronic pain. I’ve taken various additional courses over this period, with a particular focus on Strength & Conditioning, Massage & Manual Therapy, Podiatry and Biomechanics, which have all enabled me to develop my practice and improve the quality of service that I offer to my clients.
I pride myself on my strength, conditioning and nutrition and believe I should set an example to my clients in all areas. Whether this be the balance to perform a headstand, the strength to do pull-ups, the flexibility to touch my toes or the endurance to run a 10K: Rarely do I give an exercise that I can’t do comfortably myself. I continue to play rugby to a good level and hope my dedication to my health and fitness will let this continue long into the future.
Change of Direction …
Following some reflection on my practice in early 2019, I decided that I wanted to refine my focus somewhat from the broad profession of Physiotherapy and concentrate my attention on two main areas:
- Injury Prevention
- Optimising Body Mechanics
Fundamentally, I wanted to work with those clients that want to help themselves and commit to their own rehabilitation. I wanted to work with clients that are motivated to strive for something better. I wanted my clients to learn about their bodies, understand their injuries and empower them to recover and progress. The year 2019 saw me step up my continuing professional development and invest a lot more time in research and courses that will support and drive this new focus. To date I have completed VTCT Level 3 and VTCT Level 4 Awards in Sports Massage Therapy (with the reputable ‘Sports Therapy UK’), as well as an Essential Biomechanics Certificate (with top Podiatric surgeon Stuart Metcalfe). I am currently undertaking extensive courses in Running Assessment & Treatment (with the ‘Running Physio’ Tom Goom) and a Shoulder Masterclass (with upper limb specialist physio Jo Gibson). In August 2019, I established Recuperate Therapy.
